AHN Journey

Spring 2027

Europe: The northern Arc

Art - Faith - History - Pilgrimage - Rest - Community - Good coffee

—————The invitation—————

Europes history is a story of civilizations layered on top of each other, and encountering those layers in person teaches us to see our world with greater humility, compassion and spiritual depth.

Our first AHN group Journey to the UK in 2025 left us changed and hungry for more. We’re continuing to explore this remarkable world, these amazing cities and a travel experience centered around art, faith, history, pilgrimage, reflection and community. We would love for you to consider joining us for this new thoughtfully curated trip throughout Europe with Art House North this Spring!

For our next journey we’re moving into broader Europe- New cultures, new languages, new foods, beautiful landscapes, Dutch tulips in season, world renowned art, architecture and stories.

We’ve chosen 4 favorite European cities in 4 countries that have a legacy of art, faith & beauty: Bruges, Haarlem/Amsterdam, Prague and ending in the stunning city of Vienna. This is Europes ‘Northern Arc’.

As we’ve said before, this isn’t a 10 cities in 10 days kind of sightseeing trip. We’ve built time in each stop for your own exploration at a slower pace & wandering, or what we call ‘culture hikes’. Plus we’ll gather together for a few meals and times of reflection- including a concert with Sara Groves in a historic location in Prague!

We’d love to share it all with you on this journey together this Spring!

FAQ’S

We will be adding more to this space as questions come in!

Is this trip for artists or Art House North community only?  No!  All are welcome and regardless of your creative or non-creative pursuits.  We have curated an enjoyable and meaningful journey for anyone interested in some or all of the following: Art - Faith - History - Pilgrimage - Meaning - Rest - Reflection - Inspiration - Community - Good Food & Fun!

When should I arrive and depart?  As noted, airfare is not included so you can arrive anytime and into any city.  Some may want to arrive early and stay late, some use points for travel, that is up to you.  We would suggest arriving a day or two early to adjust to the local time, explore the city at your own pace and avoid stress on the first day of your planned itinerary.  Most will book a multi-city flight and fly into Brussels and depart from Vienna.

Do I have to attend all the planned stuff? No!  You’re invited to be a part of as much or little as you want.  It’s understandable if you’d rather lay low, explore more on your own, find yourself far from our planned meal together and just grab a bite on your own.  It’s completely at your discretion.

How should I pack?  Pack light if you can.  While we do have door to door transport between cities and hotels, there may be lengthy walks here and there, across cobblestone streets, walking tours, etc...

How active is this trip? This trip rates a 6 out of 10 on an activity level IF you join all the things, including an optional photography excursion with some hiking involved. But again, you can decide what to be a part of and what to sit out on, so it could rate a 1 out of 10 if you so choose.

Will there be a line-by-line travel book?  We will email a final digital version and have printed travel details for you with all times, addresses, etc.

Should I purchase additional travel insurance? Because of the unpredictability of international travel these days, insurance is recommended for trips costing more than $1,000.  For more information on travel insurance, take a peek here (from our mentor Rick)!

IMPORTANT - Do I need a passport? Yes, definitely.  Every traveler needs a passport.  And because of long wait times, we’d suggest updating or starting the process for updating your current passport or getting your first one. It is wise to have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your date of departure from the country you will be visiting. In the Schengen zone, (where this trip is planned) it must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended date of departure. You should check the passport validity requirements for each additional country if you’re headed for more. You can apply for a passport at a post office, library or local passport/government office.  Allow 4-6 weeks for processing, but expedited service is available for an additional fee.

IMPORTANT - Do I need any other travel documents? Yes.  There is a new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) required for all US citizens to travel to the UK and between countries in Europe. Apply for at ETA here.  It’s easy and only costs £16 (about $22) and it lasts 2 years.
